Dosher first distinguished himself on the hardwoods at Jena High, where he was an All-State basketball player before going on and lettering at Louisiana Tech. After two years in the U.S. Army, he became the permanent sports information director and an assistant professor in journalism at Tech. Following a nine-year stay at Tech, he joined the Grambling State University sports information department as an assistant and keeper of various records and statistics for all of the school’s teams. He earned a master’s degree from LSU.

He was instrumental in publicizing the quest for 400 lifetime victories by legendary GSU head football coach Eddie Robinson. He maintained a detailed list of school records and statistical accomplishments for the Tigers and helped in promoting numerous players for All-American and All-SWAC honors. While SID at Tech, he produced several award-winning media guides and publicized such future NFL stars as Terry Bradshaw and David Lee as well as future major league baseball pitcher George Stone. He also was an advisor to the Tech Talk campus newspaper and Lagniappe yearbook.

He helped Louisiana Tech University’s football team achieve a No. 1 national ranking in 1964 during a poll published in Sports Illustrated. More than 200 of his journalism students at Tech and Grambling State went on to earn positions on various state, regional and national newspapers and magazines.
