Presently serves as Vice President for External Affairs at Northwestern State University. He suggested in the late 1960s when serving in the media bureau at NSU that the Louisiana Sports Writers Association consider moving the Hall of Fame to Natchitoches. joining with school administrators, he was able to persuade the association to make Natchitoches the permanent home beginning in 1972. Pierce and Shreveport sportswriter Jim McLain served as the Hall of Fame co-chairman for 19 years. Pierce and NSU put together exhibit cases in the lobby of Prather Coliseum, the first formal version of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. When he was promoted to University Vice President in 1990, he handed the Hall of Fame chairmanship to SID Doug Ireland. For years, Pierce was the emcee of the annual banquet for the Hall of Fame inductees, first at the Student Union, later at Prather Coliseum, delighting the crowd with his jokes about the members of the LSWA, coaches around the state and inductees.
