Many High School – 1990 LSHOF inductee Charlie Joiner, also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was born in Many (didn’t play at Many HS though; family moved to Lake Charles) and played college football at Grambling
6 p.m., Division I championship
Byrd High School – 1997 LSHOF inductee Scotty Robertson, a 1947 Byrd graduate, was head coach of three NBA teams, including the first-ever coach of the then New Orleans Jazz. 1999 LSHOF inductee Pat Studstill (1956 Byrd graduate) played 12 NFL seasons, making three straight Pro Bowls (1965-67). 2010 LSHOF inductee Lee Hedges was head football coach at Byrd from 1956-59 and led Byrd to the 1956 state championship game as a 26-year-old head coach. ALSO – Former Louisiana U.S. Senator J. Bennett Johnston (not in the LSHOF) was a halfback for Byrd’s last state championship team in 1949.
Catholic High-Baton Rouge – 2012 LSHOF inductee Warrick Dunn is a Catholic graduate who led the Bears to their first state finals appearance in 1990, and ranks highly among all-time NFL rushing leaders; 2014 LSHOF inductee Pete Boudreaux, the state’s most successful high school track and field/cross country, is a Catholic alumnus who has coached and taught at CHS for over 40 years. 2008 LSHOF inductee Gayle Hatch, an innovative strength coach who was head coach of the 2004 USA Olympic men’s weightlifting team, is a 1957 Catholic alumnus.

St. Thomas More – The Lafayette school’s head football coach, Jim Hightower, was inducted in 2016 and ranks among the nation’s top 20 most winningest high school coaches with 434 career wins … he is the second-winningest coach in state history.
6 p.m., Class 4A state championship
Carencro High School – 2015 LSHOF inductee Kevin Faulk was a high school All-American running back at Carencro and coached there from 2013-17 before joining the LSU staff. He was part of three Super Bowl championship teams for the New England Patriots. 1992 LSHOF inductee Ron Guidry is a Carencro native and resident who is one of the great pitchers in New York Yankees history. Carencro High did not exist when he was growing up so he attended Northside HS in Lafayette.
6 p.m., Class 5A state championship
Acadiana High School – The late Kim Perrot, a 2007 LSHOF inductee, was a 1986 AHS graduate who was a point guard in the WNBA and led the Houston Comets to three WNBA championships.
Alexandria Senior High – 2017 LSHOF inductee Juan Pierre was a baseball star at ASH until he graduated in 1995 and became a 14-year star outfielder in Major League Baseball.
